Established in 1982, the Nelson Waldorf School offers school programs from Parent and Child through to Class 8. Based on the insights of scientist and philosopher Dr. Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925), we are part of a worldwide network of Waldorf schools that have developed into an international movement with over 2,000+ schools.
The Nelson Waldorf School is located on 33 acres of pristine mountainside, three minutes from the Nelson city limits. Nelson, British Columbia, incorporated in 1897, is a distinctive ‘arts’ city of approximately 10,000 people and is, once again in 2019, well placed on Maclean’s list of Canada’s Best Communities.
Nelson is nestled on the West Arm of Kootenay Lake in the Selkirk Mountain range, halfway between Vancouver, B.C. and Calgary, Alberta. Nelson offers a rare mix of culture and outdoor recreation to the many families who are attracted to raise their children here. The Nelson Waldorf School continues to attract families from around the world seeking an affordable Waldorf education in this unique and beautiful natural setting.
