Grade School Movement Education Teacher
The Nelson Waldorf School is recruiting for the position of movement education teacher for Classes 5-8.
The teacher is responsible for the delivery of a movement education curriculum that is aligned with Waldorf pedagogical practices, grade-specific Scope and Sequence expectations, and the requirements of the BC Ministry of Education, as set forth in the BC physical and health education curriculum and by the province’s five-stage approach to in-class instruction.
The Movement Education teacher will encourage good sportsmanship, foster inclusion, and bring games and skills appropriate to the age of the students. Key qualities are strong communication and interpersonal skills, and excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
Responsibilities will include preparing, teaching and assessing 8 lessons of Movement Education/week,writing reports, supervising during student recess, and attending weekly faculty meetings.
EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- BC Independent Certification eligibility
- Waldorf Certification, preferred
- Studied university level movement education
- 5 years or more of teaching experience, preferred
- Part-time, 10:45-3:00, 2 days/ week
- Salary based on experience ($16,000- $20,000)
