Special Needs and Class Assistant

The Nelson Waldorf School has an opening for an interim Teaching Assistant for Feb 25, 2019 – June 13, 2019.

This position is full-time at approx. 30 hours/week with a wage of $15/hour. Training/experience with middle primary level behavioural needs is required.  Duties include individual and small group activities and general supervisions. Candidates should have good verbal and written communication skills. Handwork, recorder, movement proficiency and knowledge of Waldorf methods will be preferred.

Education Director

The Nelson Waldorf School (BC, Canada) seeks a full time Education Director to lead the pedagogical realm of the school, aligning BC Ministry of Education and Waldorf curriculum requirements.

Excellent candidates will have deep connections to the Waldorf movement and be able to work well within school processes. In our Education Director we are looking for strong pedagogical leadership, inspiration and an impulse for curriculum and program renewal and improvements.

A strong and demonstrated commitment to collaborative work and consensus decision making is essential as well as an empathic approach to working with colleagues, students and parents. Class 1 Teacher, 2019/20

This position is available for the 2019 – 2020 school year, with the contract beginning in August 2019.

The Grade 1 Class teacher has a passion for Waldorf education and for inspiring a love of learning in children and youth. Key qualities are strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.  With the responsibility of carrying a class of up to 24 students, the successful candidate will have excellent class management and organizational skills.

Within Grade 1 teaching, the responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • lesson planning & classroom preparation
  • teaching main lesson
  • teaching track classes
  • report writing
  • attending faculty meetings
  • leading class parent meetings

Terms of Employment: Permanent, full-time; base salary with increments and some benefits

Education and Skill Requirements:

  • BC Teacher Certification
  • 5 years or more of Waldorf Class Teaching is preferred
  • Waldorf Training Certificate
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Excellent communication skills

ECCE – Early Childhood Care and Education

The Nelson Waldorf Childcare Centre is taking applications for a permanent part-time ECCE, and a one-year-mat-leave part time ECCE.
