The Waldorf Approach
The Nelson Waldorf School is one of 1,000 AWSNA accredited Waldorf schools across the globe. Waldorf education is designed to reignite children’s imagination, self-esteem, and agency , and inspire students to use their skills to create change.
The need for imagination, a sense of truth, and a feeling of responsibility – these are the three forces which are the very nerve of education.Rudolf Steiner
For over 100 years, Waldorf education has created an environment in which students are challenged to exercise creativity and criticality, and to cultivate a strong sense of reverence for spirituality, the natural world, and humanity. The Nelson Waldorf School provides the building blocks of big-picture thinking, so when our students move into secondary education and beyond, they are ready to lead the next generation.
Beyond BC Curriculum
The Nelson Waldorf School is registered as a BC Ministry of Education Group 1 Independent School. We receive funding from the Ministry, and are held to the same standard as all other registered elementary schools in the province. Waldorf curriculum is developed to meet or exceed these standards, delivered in the Waldorf way – artistic, immersive and experiential.
