Kinderhouse Mayfest

Puppets at Mayfest 2008 Mark your calendars—Mayfest is coming May 30!

Each year the Nelson Waldorf School presents a Mayfest celebration at their beautiful pastoral campus. This delightful spring festival honours families with young children (siblings are welcome!). From 10:00-12:30 children and adults enjoy strawberry shortcake and other scrumptious snacks, and make natural crafts and flower garlands to wear for the traditional May Pole dance which takes place from 12:30-1:00.

This year the Kinderhouse teachers are performing a charming puppet show, "The Sun Egg," a story by Elsa Beskow in which a forest fairy discovers a mysterious orange object that surely must have fallen from the sky. Her adventure begins as she heads south to the land of the sun. Show times are 11:00 and 12:00.

Admission to the puppet show is by donation and the café items range from $2.00-$4.00.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the entire school and learn more about Waldorf education on one of the many guided tours occurring throughout Mayfest.
