All School Welcome and Celebration
Saturday September 19th, 2-5pm
Parents and teachers alike at the Nelson Waldorf School have come to realize that the school community would greatly benefit from an adult gathering to begin the school year. An All School Welcome will be held for parents from 2-5pm on Saturday September 19th. The goal of this meeting is to strengthen our community. We promise to provide an opportunity to meet one another, clarify roles and expectations in the school, and inspire a parent understanding of the value of Waldorf Education. This meeting will be both informative and fun and we look forward to seeing you all there. Child-care will be provided 1:30-5:15pm. Tentative schedule:
- Introduction of Faculty and Staff
- Introduction of returning and new families
- Overview of the roles of Faculty, Board, and Parent Council at NWS
- Review of parent role and expectations, school calendar (including festivals), and volunteer opportunities
- Introduction of the 3 student support streams (Social Inclusion, Discipline and Care)
- Presentation of curriculum (Marigold, Kindergarten, Grades 1-8, and Specialty programs)
- Tour of school with trivia and prizes!
Because we believe in the power of this meeting to strengthen our community and our work together, it is required that all parents attend the All School Welcome. A "nuts and bolts only" meeting alternative will be scheduled for the week of September 21st for any parents who were not able to attend.
The annual Community Potluck and Hoe-Down will follow from 5:30 onwards. Please stay and share in the merriment of reconnecting with old friends, meeting new faces, feasting in celebration of late summer's bounty, and dancing to lively live music.
