October 2010

Parent Council encompasses all NWS parents and provides a means of contact, communication, and support in addition to your class teacher and other school staff. This monthly newletter provides information of interest about the school, particularly as it relates to parents. Ensure the newsletter goes to your inbox rather than your spam or junk folder by adding the "From" email address to your Address Book. At the end of the newsletter you can 'Unsubscribe," or "Forward" to a friend, or "Update your profile" to change your subscribed email address. There's also a link on the NWS Parent Council Website where you can subscribe. Use the links on the left to contact someone for more information about available opportunities. Thank you! Best wishes, Iain Pardoe on behalf of NWS Parent Council.

Parent Council

Read about what Parent Council is and what is does in the latest Parent Council Guidelines. The next meeting is this Tuesday October 26th at 5pm in the Meeting Room at the school. Believe it or not, meetings are actually quite fun, you get to meet all kinds of strange and interesting folks, and there are invariably some tasty snacks to be had. Everyone is warmly welcomed and Parent Council is always looking for fresh blood, er I mean new volunteers to help share the load. Don't worry that if you come you'll get stuck with some task you'd rather not do. It is OK to just come to see what goes on at these meetings and if you choose to become more involved, or not, later, it's all good either way.

Halloween Journey

Pumpkin headsThe Halloween Journey is created by NWS parents as a non-scary Nelson-wide community event. It takes place on Halloween night at the school. Small groups of children and parents are guided on an enchanting journey along pumpkin-lit pathways past various scenes and characters. This event is co-created by many hands and if you think you may be able to assist with setting things up beforehand or helping at the event on October 31st itself, please contact Martha Wilson or the school office.
