Employment
The Nelson Waldorf School is an established, full AWSNA member school now in its 28th year. We offer a comprehensive Waldorf curriculum including Eurythmy, Handwork, Woodwork, French, Movement Education, and Music. We anticipate over 180 students in Early Childhood Programs through Grade Eight in 2012/13. Our faculty is experienced and committed to working out of anthroposophy and the ideals of Waldorf education. We have a supportive and talented parent body representing a cross-section of economic and social life. A large percent of our families have moved to Nelson to attend the NWS.
Our school is situated on 35 acres of mountain splendour, which contributes to a healthy rural atmosphere, although we are located only a five-minute drive from Nelson. The city of Nelson is picturesque, perched on a mountainside overlooking Kootenay Lake, and full of beautiful older homes and turn of the century stone buildings. There is a rich cultural life for a town of this size (approximately 10,000 within the city limits), with a restored theatre offering many excellent and varied performances, an Art School, a school of Chinese Medicine, two libraries, a great number of artisans, and many cultural events. Nelson is considered an excellent place to raise a family. The area offers a wide variety of outdoor recreational and wilderness opportunities, as well as a comprehensive recreational facility in the city of Nelson.
